Do you employ children aged 13-16 years?

With school holidays coming up, we thought this would be a timely reminder to ensure you have obtained the necessary work permits.

Any employer who allows a child of school age to work, without obtaining a work permit, is breaking the law (even if they are working for their parents). Local Councils insist businesses intending to employ school-aged children must apply for a child employment permit before they can be employed.

If a child is working without a child employment permit, there’s a risk your insurance will not be valid.

Children do not need a work permit for work experience arranged by their school.
