For a while we have received threats from Army recruiters, with them quoting sharing agreements that don’t cover redaction to SAR etc, but that all ends today!  As of 29th July 2025, the law changed, as part of the very slow roll out of the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, we can now disclose entire records to MOD recruiters with no redactions required.

As of July 29th the Army, Navy and MOD can now request unredacted records for applicants, which should make life easier for practices.

Changes to legislation:

  • Data Protection Act 2018, Paragraph 7 is up to date with all changes known to be in force on or before 29 July 2025. There are changes that may be brought into force at a future date. Changes that have been made appear in the content and are referenced with annotations
  • Changes and effects yet to be applied to Schedule 11 Paragraph 7:
  • Changes and effects yet to be applied to the whole Act associated Parts and Chapters:
    • The listed provisions do not apply to personal data to the extent that the application of the listed provisions would be likely to prejudice the combat effectiveness of any of the armed forces of the Crown
