There is still a lot of confusion around Personalised Care Adjustments (PCA’s) and Exceptions and when to use them.  PCA’s were introduced in April 2019, to differentiate  between adjusting care and removing a patient from a denominator.

PCA’s are automatically applied following the use of appropriate invite codes.  Exception codes, both top level and single indicator codes, have to be added as and when appropriate - examples include allergy or patient declined codes and most need to be added each year if they still apply.

We also have ‘exclusions’ to throw into the mix - these apply for definition reasons, for example newly diagnosed and newly registered patients or patients within a specific age range.

Many of these ‘codes’ are essential for patient care & practice income, they stop you being penalised for areas outside of your control so it is important they are used accurately.

Is this still a bit of a muddle for you?
Would you benefit from a refresh?
Are you relatively new to QOF and would benefit from a complete overview of all of the above and more?
