Established in 1992 by the Stress Management Society, this year’s theme, #LittleByLittle, highlights the positive impact small actions can have on mental health and wellbeing. It encourages everyone to make some small adjustments to daily routines so that “Little By Little, A Little Becomes A Lot”. Talking through our problems and worries with others decreases stress levels and helps #LittleByLittle make a difference. We spend a lot of time at work so there is no better place to start than here!
Helpful tips to managing stress:
- Get enough sleep
- Exercise and eat healthily
- Create boundaries and learn to say no
- Listen to calming music
- Learn a new breathing technique
- Look after your social wellbeing, know it’s OK to ask for help
- Take time to do the things you enjoy
As managers, it’s our job to look out for and look after others, however, it’s essential you also take care of yourself otherwise you have nothing to give others. Self-care is essential, you cannot pour from an empty cup and taking care of you doesn’t mean you first, it means you too. You are the glue which holds it all together so you too is a must.
