The latest prevalence rates have recently been published. In the main, prevalence rates have increased across the board, however, PAD, CHD, mental health and new diagnoses of depression saw a slight decrease. The biggest increases are obesity (not unexpected as rates dropped significantly throughout COVID as up-to-date weights were not being taken/recorded) and NDH which has increased by 1.07%. This is a significant rise and is believed to continue to rise at pace. This target patient group is defined as patients with a HbA1c of 42-47mmol/mol or FPG of 5.5-6.9mmol. In March 2022 there were 2.7 million people with NDH in England following around 580,000 new diagnoses in 2021/22. This is still a very under-reported number so it is a TPG/register worth validating as it has 18 points associated with it.These prevalence rates have been calculated from 97.3% of practices in England participating in QOF. Over 78% of practices achieved over 90% of QOF in 2023/24.
