From 1st January 2025, GP practices will be able to order sub-dermal contraceptive implants (Nexplanon) directly from the supplier and claim back the cost.
This will be detailed in the published Statement of Financial Entitlements (SFE) on 1st October 2024.
This will mean patients will not have to pick up the implant from the pharmacy and then make a further GP appointment to get it fitted.
Practices must ensure they add this to their suite of FP34D claim searches from January 2025.
