From 1st April 2026, to coincide with COVID Vaccines for possible co-administration, the eligibility for RSV will include patients 80 years & over and all residents in care homes for older adults (previously only offered to patients who had not yet reached 80 years of age). The expanded eligibility with have no upper age limit.

Eligibility:

  • Adults over 75 years and over who have not previously received a single dose
  • All residents in care homes for older adults regardless of their age (due to their increased risk)

The vaccine will continue to be Abrysvo on a one-dose schedule. JCVI has advised the latest evidence shows COVID-19 and RSV vaccines can be co-administered and is actively encouraged, particularly to those in care homes, to help achieve high uptake. RSV can, however, be administered at any time and will continue throughout the year.

Practices are actively encouraged to call & recall all patients as soon as they become eligible.
